This is our IFPUG Certified two-day modular course (IFPUG 4.2 rules) offered both as a public course and on-site for clients.
The course is designed for novice function point counters, applications experts, users, IS supervisors and managers. The modular design accommodates participants who require varying levels of measurement and function point detail.
The course is broken into four modules so that supervisors and managers wanting a high level overview of Software Measurement and Function points can attend the first module (Management Overview), while counters can attend all four modules.
Clients who have attended Hands-on Function Point Analysis especially appreciate our presentation of the IFPUG function point methodology in straight forward language. Commonly misunderstood terms (which have different meanings in data processing and function points) are identified and thoroughly explained.
Our instructors are IFPUG Certified Function Point Specialists (CFPS) with practical counting experience in a myriad of technologies and development environments.
Course Objectives
This workshop equips students with the knowledge to confidently and competently size their application's asset base (portfolio) with Function Points. It is certified by the International Function Point Users Group (IFPUG).
Specific objectives include:
- To transfer Function Point counting knowledge and skills through the use of classroom instruction, case studies and hands-on exercises;
- To outline benefits of function point analysis and software measurement including Do's and Don'ts for success;
- To learn Function Point tips used by expert counters; and
- To gain proficiency in using the Function Point Quick Reference card.
