This workshop is the basis for the ISO/IEC 15939 Software Measurement Framework standard, and the Department of Defense/Software Engineering Institute developed approach to sustainable software and systems measurement. Quality Plus Technologies, Inc. is a licensed transition partner with the PSM Support Center to teach PSM.
This intensive one day workshop is a working session with your team that actually sets out the plans for, and designs the components of your initial, critical measures.
This comprehensive workshop imparts both knowledge of what and how to measure the functional size of software (important for requirements completeness, change management, project estimation, etc.) AND what it can and cannot be used to measure. Attendees state that taking this workshop from Quality Plus Technologies was one of the best training investments they have EVER MADE.
This day takes the plans developed in the 1 day GQM workshop and turns them into realistic implementation initiatives. This includes guidance and consultation in the following areas: Project scope, process improvement targets, gap analysis (what measures are in place vs. what is needed), training considerations, staffing and personnel impact, participation roles and responsibilities, timelines, expectations for measurement, communication plan, etc.
These sessions are particularly suited for students of the FPA workshop. Together we outline how to select projects or applications to measure; how to begin and conduct the counts, how to prepare participants (non-counters); how to leverage the analysis process for requirements and scope management benefits; and actual counting practice.
These 2 days can be spread out in hourly or 1/2 day allotments to ensure ongoing support and expert advice is near at hand. This is a retainer type of arrangement that many of our clients like to have as a confidence booster and a safety net for the successful implementation of their measurement initiatives.
